Russian Regional Environmental Centre was established in 2000 by European Commission and Academy of Governmental Service under President of Russian Federation.

RREC belongs to the network of the regional environmental centers working for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia which was created for support of inter-sectoral environmental cooperation among governments, business and civil society.

The RREC’s mission is promotion and introduction of innovative ideas, standards and methods for environmental well-being and sustainable development in Russia via development of information exchange and practical environmental solutions.

RREC adheres to the following principles:

  • Strengthening inter-sectoral cooperation
  • Promoting development of civil society
  • Improving international cooperation inter alia between EU and Russia
  • Using complex approach for tackling environmental and social problems
